This is a list of the commonly asked questions by clients, donors, and potential volunteers. If you have a question that is not answered below, please call or email the pantry and ask!

Client questions

What hours are the pantry open?

Monday/Wednesday/Friday

9:00 am – 11:45 am

 

IF GRAND RAPIDS PUBLIC SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED DUE TO WEATHER, THE PANTRY IS ALSO CLOSED. CHECK THE LOCAL LISTINGS OR CALL IF YOU ARE UNSURE.

How often do you serve clients?

Clients can come to our pantry every 30 days, as long as they aren’t going to another pantry.

What area do you serve?

Our boundaries are:

Six Mile Rd. on the north 

Fourth ST. on the south

Kenowa AVE. on the west

The Grand River on the east.

We serve the following zip codes:

49504, 49321, 49534, and 49544

What is the criteria to qualify?

Families with low income (usually 200% of poverty of less)

Live within the boundaries of the food pantry.

First time new clients should bring one of the following proof of residency for all members of the household:

Current Drivers License or State ID

Current piece of mail with family member names and address 

Medicaid or Insurance Card

Immunization Record/School Report Card

Birth Certificate (minor children)

Donor questions

What hours do you receive donations?

Food donations can be dropped off Monday/Wednesday/Friday from 9:00am – 11:00am.

Can you receive donations outside of scheduled donor drop off time?

Absolutely! If you need to schedule a time to drop off that is not within our Pantry hours, please call or email us and we will arrange something with you!

Can you pick up donations collected from our location?

If you have a collection of donations and would like to have someone come and pick it up, please call or email us to schedule a time!

What methods are you able to receive financial donations?

You can mail us a check if you prefer. We also have the donate button that you can click which will take you to our donation site. From there you can choose to make a 1 time gift or you can schedule monthly donations.

How do I become a volunteer?

Call or email us at the pantry and we will reach out to you!

Can a client volunteer?

Unfortunately, an active client cannot volunteer at the pantry. You may volunteer 6 months after you stop receiving our services.

What does a volunteer do?

Our amazing volunteers run this pantry! From stocking shelves to serving clients and everything in between! If you have a heart for helping people and want to serve, give us a call! 

How can I volunteer if I am not available during pantry hours?

The pantry has several things that need to be done! Cleaning, donation pick-ups, fundraising, and many other things can and will be done outside of pantry hours. If you have the heart, we will find the right way for you to serve!
